May 2025 - Ruaidhri Higgins Visit
Millburn Primary School had the privilege of welcoming Ruaidhri Higgins, the newly appointed manager of Coleraine Football Club, to our school today. Speaking to our P5, P6, and P7 pupils in a morning assembly —alongside parents and guardians — Ruaidhri shared his incredible journey through professional football, offering insight into both the triumphs and challenges of his career as a player, coach and manager. He provided invaluable advice to our young athletes on how to achieve success in their chosen sport and encouraged parents with thoughtful guidance on how best to support their children in their athletic pursuits.Ruaidhri also spoke passionately about his ambitions as Coleraine FC's new manager, inspiring everyone with his vision for the club. The highlight for many pupils came when he answered their fantastic questions, revealing that the best player he ever trained alongside was none other than Wayne Rooney— an experience from his time on trial at Everton as a 14-year-old.Beyond the assembly, Ruaidhri took time to visit every classroom, meeting pupils and staff and expressing his admiration for our incredible school community. Later in the morning, he was joined by Conor Loughrey, Coleraine FC’s new assistant coach, and together they led our school football team in a high-quality training session—an invaluable experience as our young players prepare for the upcoming Doherty Cup Final.Millburn PS would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to both Ruaidhri and Conor for their inspiring visit, and we wish them great success in their new roles at Coleraine Football Club!
